Location

A superb, central setting in venerable Møhlenpris. The area is calm and peaceful, characterised by charming streets and beautiful architecture. The walk into the centre takes around 10 minutes, and the university institutions line up one after another nearby. BI Norwegian Business School is just a few minutes on foot from home, and the university campus on Høyden is around a 6-minute walk from the front door. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Haukeland hospital and the university college at Kronstad are within cycling distance.

When the weekend arrives, it is good to know there are several cafés in the area. Møllaren Café has a historic, welcoming interior and serves both lunch and dinner. Nobel Bopel is another neighbourhood café with a lively offering and a focus on local produce and quality. A good cup of coffee is never a bad idea, and your new regular could be Bergen Kaffebrenneri, housed in the old workshop of the Mjellem og Karlsen shipyard at Marineholmen, where you will find fresh, newly roasted coffee carefully selected for its aroma and flavour. The perfect setting for long lunches with good friends.

The nearest grocer is Joker Spilde, a charming local shop selling, among other things, fresh rolls and bread from Colonialen. There is also Bunnpris; both shops open on Sundays.

Close by is Nygårdsparken, a green oasis with lovely paths, lush planting and a newly upgraded area around the pond. On warm summer days, Marineholmen city beach, with its white sand, is the perfect place to unwind. New quayside promenades also run along both sides of the fjord.

If you lead an active life, you will be pleased to know that gyms such as SATS, Next and Barry's Bootcamp are close by. Swimmers have a short walk to the Student Centre on Høyden and the AdO Arena by Store Lungegårdsvannet, and the Møhlenpris football pitch is a stone's throw from the front door. For lovers of the outdoors, there is a wealth of options within easy walking distance: Løvstakken and Damsgårdsfjellet in one direction, and splendid walks around Store Lungegårdsvannet, Ulriken and Fløyen in the other.
